About Us

our history

Inclusive Disability Assist (IDA) is a subsidiary of The Marsden Group, formerly known as the Frederick Marsden Youth Centre. FMYC is a community initiative with a long and meaningful history of supporting people with disability and their families. Our story begins with the Frederick Marsden Youth Centre, established in 1929 to create a safe and inclusive space where young people of all abilities could come together, take part in activities, and feel a true sense of belonging. For decades, the Frederick Marsden Youth Centre was more than just a facility—it was a place of connection, friendship, and opportunity, where young people were encouraged to grow in confidence and independence.

The Marsden Group was founded with a vision to strengthen families and communities through compassionate, inclusive, and practical support. The Group established the Marsden Families Program in Kallangur, Queensland, to provide therapeutic, in-home, and community-based services to children, young people, and their families. Over time, as community needs evolved and the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) created new opportunities for tailored disability supports, the Marsden Group expanded its scope by establishing Inclusive Disability Assist (IDA) as a separate entity. Today, both the Marsden Families Program and Inclusive Disability Assist operate under the umbrella of the Marsden Group, working side by side to deliver high-quality, person-centered services that empower individuals, support families, and foster stronger, more inclusive communities.

For nearly 100 years since its founding, The Marsden Group has been serving the needs of the residents of the Moreton Bay Region through various activities and services.

Marsden Families Program

As the needs of the community evolved, so too did the vision of The Marsden Group. In 1993, the Marsden Families Program (MFP) was formed. This program recognized that supporting individuals with disabilities also meant supporting their families and carers. MFP’s services expanded to wrap around the whole family unit, ensuring that everyone had access to resources, guidance, and community connections that could make daily life easier and more fulfilling. The Marsden Families Program evolved to provide specialist therapeutic intervention and intensive support services to children, young people, and their families, to assist them to develop the skills, confidence and connections needed to be resilient and capable of actively shaping their own future. This includes the facilitation of the Tertiary Family Intervention Service and Counselling Intervention Service

Today, the Marsden Families Program’s footprint has expanded considerably, with it’s service offered throughout the Moreton Bay region. MFP continues to provide a broad suite of interventions including counselling for children, young people, parents and carers. Furthermore, MFP’s services include in-home intensive support over a 12-week period, parenting assistance and behavioural support, practical life-skills development such as budgeting, household routines, tenancy skills, outreach family consultations and allied health input. MFP also offers trauma-informed attachment work, reunification support, transport assistance, advocacy, community linkage and brokerage to help families access additional services. Its mission is to assist children, young people and their families to develop confidence, connections, insights and capabilities to actively shape their futures. All services are delivered in a safe, respectful, non-judgemental manner, with a focus on choice, diversity, and sustainability

Introduction of

Inclusive Disability Assist today

Inclusive Disability Assist (IDA) was initially founded as an initiative of the Marsden Families Group, building on the organization’s long-standing commitment to supporting families and communities across the Moreton Bay region. With the introduction of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), the The Marsden Group recognised the growing need for specialised, disability-focused services. A dedicated brand was created to meet this demand, and Inclusive Disability Assist was born. Over time, IDA developed into a separate entity and has since grown into one of Queensland’s leading registered NDIS service providers for children and family-based disability support. Today, IDA proudly supports more than 600 participants across the Moreton Bay region, Sunshine Coast, and South Brisbane, delivering tailored, person-centred services that empower people with disability to achieve their goals and actively participate in community life. While operating as a separate entity, Inclusive Disability Assist continues to reflect the values and community-driven ethos of The Marsden Group, offering a professional and focused approach to disability support across a wide range of services.

Inclusive Disability Assist now delivers a comprehensive range of supports designed to meet the diverse needs of participants and their families. Our services include direct in-home and community-based supports, ensuring individuals receive assistance in the environments where they feel most comfortable and engaged. We provide both Support Coordination and Specialist Support Coordination to help participants navigate the NDIS, as well as Plan Management services to simplify the financial side of their plans. In addition, IDA offers group-based activities for adults and children that promote social connection, skill development, and independence, alongside dedicated school holiday programs tailored to children and young people. Together, these services reflect IDA’s commitment to delivering flexible, person-centred supports that empower participants and strengthen family and community connections.
