Inclusive Disability Assist’s Adult Social Group is all about connection, confidence, choice and enjoying great experiences together. Designed for adults aged 18 years and over, the group runs every Monday evening across an exciting 8-week program, giving participants the opportunity to get out into the community, meet new people, build friendships and enjoy a range of fun and engaging social activities in a welcoming and supportive environment. What makes our Adult Social Group unique is that our participants help choose where we go and what we do, with locations and activities selected in advance based on participant interests, ideas and preferences. Each week brings something different, from relaxed dinners and social catch-ups to entertainment, recreation, local attractions and other community-based experiences. The program is designed to support participants to develop social confidence, strengthen communication skills, increase independence and community participation, and build meaningful connections with others in a natural and enjoyable way. Our experienced support team is there to encourage participation while respecting each person’s individual choices, interests and comfort level. Whether you are looking to make new friends, discover new places, try something different or simply enjoy a great Monday night out, IDA’s Adult Social Group provides an inclusive space where everyone is encouraged to get involved, be themselves and have fun. Inclusive Disability Assist’s Adult Social Group is built around choice, inclusion and meaningful community participation. Participants are encouraged to help select activities and community access locations in advance, giving everyone the opportunity to contribute ideas and shape the group program around their interests. Each location is carefully considered to ensure it provides a safe, welcoming and supportive environment, with IDA facilitators becoming familiar with the venue, its layout, accessibility and any individual support considerations before attending. This participant-led approach helps create enjoyable, well-planned experiences where people can build confidence, develop social connections and explore the community in a way that feels comfortable, engaging and genuinely inclusive.

Delivered over 8 engaging weeks‍

Inclusive Disability Assist’s Adult Social Group runs across an eight-week program, with activities planned and scheduled well in advance so participants know exactly what is coming up and can decide what suits them best. The full program is shared ahead of time, giving participants the freedom to join in every week or simply choose the individual activities they are most interested in. This flexible approach makes it easier to plan around personal routines, appointments and other commitments, while still enjoying the benefits of social connection, community participation and shared experiences. Whether someone attends all eight weeks or selects just a few favorite outings, the focus remains on choice, enjoyment and making each activity a positive and engaging experience

Inclusive Disability Assist’s Adult Social Group creates opportunities for participants to meet like-minded people, build new friendships and enjoy meaningful social experiences in a relaxed and supportive environment. By visiting a variety of community locations and taking part in different activities, participants can discover new interests, grow their confidence and become more comfortable engaging with others outside their usual routines. Each outing is designed to be enjoyable, inclusive and socially engaging, giving participants the chance to connect through shared experiences, conversations and activities. Whether it is trying somewhere new, joining in a group activity or simply spending time with others, the Adult Social Group supports greater community participation, social connection and a stronger sense of belonging.

Frequently asked questions about our Adult Social Group

When is IDA’s ‘Adult Social Group’ activity delivered?

The group activity takes place every Monday evening, between 4:30pm to 6:30pm. The overall activity is delivered over 8 weeks in total.

Can participant’s join the group at any time?

Yes, IDA caters to rolling referrals. This means that participants are welcome to join the overall activity at any stage throughout the 8-Week delivery.

What age does the Adult Social Group activity cater to?

The Adult Social Group is tailored to suit adults. IDA only accepts referrals for individuals aged over the age of 18. If participants are interested in group-based activities for children, they can contact the IDA office to discuss children’s services.

Can participants join just some weeks and not all of the weeks?

Yes, if a participant prefers to only engage in one week of the activities, this can be organized. Please speak with an IDA Service Delivery team member prior to the commencement of the activity

Can I bring my own Support Worker?

Absolutely! Participants who feel more comfortable attending with a Support Worker familiar to them, are welcome to do so.

Is transport provided to and from the activity?

Participants are generally required to make their own way to and from the group activity. If you do have specific transport needs, please don’t hesitate in contacting IDA and we can look at your specific circumstances and see if we can assist.

Do participants need to have engaged in group activities in the past, to join?

No. IDA’s Adult Social Group activity caters to all participants, irrespective of whether you have engaged in 1:1 supports in the past or are highly familiar with group activity participation

Are Facilitator’s qualified?

Yes, they sure are. IDA utilizes experienced facilitators for its Adult Social Group. You will feel safe and supported at all times.

What location does the activity take place at?

IDA’s Adult Social Group location varies from week to week. Participants are notified in advance of the specific location of each activity

What is the cost to participate?

IDA costs it’s Adult Social Group under the ‘04_210_0125_6_1’ line item in the NDIS Price Guide. This is the ‘Community Social and Recreational Activities’ code. Activity materials are included in this cost and not charged additionally to participants.

Do I pay for all 8 weeks?

Each participant will have a tailored quotation provided to them before-hand. A participant is only quoted for the weeks of the activity that they attend.
